Sandals, or pacca,
are worn by the Madurese
for daily activities.

During our visit to Madura, there were two types of pacca – one resembling clogs and the other with a wooden stub that acts as a toe grip.

The latter is a more traditional style and is not as common nowadays. The base of the traditional pacca is made from wood and the straps from durable leather.

We explored the possibilites of material innovation for the sandals, creating new aesthetics while being practical and sustainable.

The sandals are designed for leisurely wear. The boot is made from a breathable mesh-like material that moulds to the shape of your feet, built for long periods of walking or working on more complicated terrains.

Explore two designs — the sandal and the boot, where the soles are made from recycled compressed rubber from tires.

We took inspiration from contemporary shoe designers around the region, as we imagined Madura to have similar levels of innovation and technologies as such cities.
